Our first stitching circle was hosted in Delhi in 2019 reflecting on the shrinking space for dissent in public universities. This was the foundation for, Se(w)cular Stitches, in-person and virtual circles that bring folks together around different questions and provocations around social justice issues of our times. From exploring Tatreez in solidarity with Palestine to reflecting on the state of the Indian republic to stitching post colonial futures with migrant communities in Britain.

A travelling circle, Kantha Connections brings together artists, activists, and organisers from across movements to sit together, stitch, and think out loud. Circles have been held in London, Nairobi, Germany, Kochi, Bangkok, and Paris. Each circle is shaped by the room it is in: the questions people bring, the movements they are part of, the things they are trying to make sense of. Read more here.

​Phulkari was never just decorative. It was a way to imagine the future: women stitched alongside mothers and aunts, hoping for better lives for daughters and granddaughters, weaving their hopes and stories into cloth. Phulkari Futures draws on this history to sit with the wounds that Punjab and its communities are still carrying, and imagine, together, what healing might look like. Read more here.

In addition to the existing circles, Rafunaama also collaborates with non-profit initiatives to co-design stitching sessions tailored to their needs. These can be one-off sessions or longer engagements, shaped together based on what the moment needs.
